It was a common thing to update the record changers back in the 50's and 60's. I recall it came in three variations of cabinets. The "V" indicates Victrola and the number after indicates that the 711 model came in several slightly different styles all with the same insides. The "7" in the number indicates 1947 while the "11" indicates 11 tubes. The 711V2 is actually a 1947 model that had a 78 rpm only Seeburg model "L"record changer in it. By 1950 RCA used two record changers, a 45 changer near the top of the machine for easy access and a 2 speed changer near the bottom to make playing of anything non-45 hard to play. The RCA model number tells you something about it. Last edited by wrnewton on Aug 5:14 pm, edited 1 time in total. Good luck.Įdit: forgot to add the link to NostalgiaAir where schematic etc. If you're not adept at electronic restoration, there are probably some members of the forum in your general area who could do it for you. Usually that and a good cleaning of the controls etc. It would be best to have it gone over and all paper capacitors replaced, and the electrolytic capacitors replaced. Even if it works now, I would not play it, as some old parts can fry in an instant and take out other parts. Stereo didn't come along with records until about 8 years later.Īt any rate, that radio would be worth keeping if you are interested in it. It might say stereo on the changer, but this is a monophonic radio. As stated before, the original record player was removed and replaced with the Lafayette. That's a pretty impressive radio, AM/FM/SW/Phono, with a separate amplifier chassis. It was made after WWII, around 1950, date not clear from the data. Amplifier, converter, detector, pre-amplifier, rectifier.Attached below is the link to the information and schematic wiring diagram of your RCA model 711V2.
